BEEF
BEEF first began appearing in various basements and dives of Cincinnati on Labor Day, 2022. BEEF is the brainchild of drummer/lead vocalist Takoda Hortenberry, first joined by his wife Ally on keys/vox, and a cast of players in Richmond, Virginia. Following a slew of singles, an EP, and a relocation to BEEF's true home of Cincinnati, a new lineup featuring bassist John Hoffman (Vacation) and fellow Richmond expat/guitarist Sam Richardson was born. Influences include: punk, sex, violence, and red meat. BEEF recorded their entire eight song set on eight track tape just over the river at The Lodge in Dayton, KY in early 2023. Hoffman engineered and mixed the madness, Caufield Schnug (Sweeping Promises) mastered it, and Richardson's prolific Feel It imprint will be releasing BEEF's self-titled debut album on a 45 RPM 12", with a cassette edition available from Let's Pretend Records.
TIGERLILIES
The Tigerlilies are a Midwest American Rock and Roll Band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed out of the city's underground music scene. They combine their love of obscure and not-so-obscure 70s/80s Punk, Old Soul, New Wave, and 1960s vinyl 45s to make their mix of melody-infused Garage Rock N' Roll. In their time, the Tigerlilies have shared the stage with the likes of Joan Jett, Guided by Voices, Brainiac, Superchunk, Violent Femmes, and Paul Weller of the Jam.
THE NO WAYS
Originally formed in Asheville, NC in 2016 by Chicago expat Dougie Ramone, the No Ways blast out their own brand of stripped-down Garage/Budget Rock with rowdy, catchy, and minimal tunes. While Dougie has returned to the Windy City and his No Ways have featured a revolving cast of Chicago and Asheville musicians in recent years, this MOTR gig will be significant with the enlistment of Lexington, KY punk stalwart Tommy Chocolate on guitar, and GD Mills (Fuck Knights) filling in on upright drums and backing vocals.
SIR GREGORY F.K.
After years of touring throughout the U.S. and Europe with his Minneapolis-based band Fuck Knights, Cincinnati expat GD Mills brings it all back home to Over-the-Rhine, going solo as Sir Gregory F.K.
Over the course of living and making music in various cities since 2001 – NYC, Minneapolis, Asheville, and Portland – Mills has released two LPs and a handful of 7”s published on several labels including Munster (Madrid), Dirty Water (London), and Go Ape (NYC).
Under the Sir Gregory F.K. moniker, Mills gathers stray tracks he wrote, recorded, and mixed himself that didn’t fit into Fuck Knights’ repertoire and have never been unleashed until now. Mills performs his expanded Garage Punk as a one man band, playing upright drums and singing lead vocals along to self-generated backing tracks.
